Crazy Fresh Kids -- Oktoberfest - Week 1

Can you believe it’s already October?! Man, how the time flies! If you’re from the Midwest, the chances of you having a little German heritage in you is pretty high, which is why we’re celebrating Oktoberfest this year! If you don’t know, Oktoberfest is a German festival, originally started as a celebration for a king’s wedding, as well as to mark the end of harvest season. It has since turned into a large drinking festival in Munich (but the kids don’t need to know that!). This month we’ll be giving you ways to teach your kids some basic German words, traditional German recipes and more! We really hope you enjoy! And as always, we love to hear any of your feedback. Feel free to email us with any suggestions, thoughts or comments you may have at (PS - We’ll let you in on a little secret - our Marketing Associate, Nikki, is currently living in Germany, so if you or your little ones have any questions at all about Germany, feel free to email them to her at!)

Crazy Fresh Goal Chart

How have the goal charts been going for you and your family? Hopefully the kids are enjoying the various goals, and we hope you are enjoying the benefits! This week is all about eating healthy. Many studies show that getting the recommended amounts of fruits and veggies per day as a child will lead to healthier eating habits and less sickness, so get your kids eating their produce! To print, simply click on the picture above. We hope you and your kids enjoy!

Recipe of the Week - German Fried Potatoes (Bratkartoffeln)

If you know anything about Germany, then you know they love their potatoes over there! This famous dish is called Bratkartoffeln, literally translated as fried potatoes. This is served as a side with many traditional Bavarian dishes such as schnitzel. You have to be sure to get the bacon crisp and the potatoes brown to get a mouth-watering flavor everyone is sure to love!

Learn German with “Das Gemüselied”

We found a great video for your kids to listen to on Youtube to help them learn the German words for their (hopefully) favorite veggies! Check out the video HERE. We’ve given you the lyrics you can print out so they can see all the words and also the translation into English. It’s a pretty popular song here for kids, so we hope yours learn something interesting!

German Animals Memory Game

Animals are always a fun theme when it comes to learning words in a foreign language. We’ve created a Memory game for your kids to play and learn at the same time. Be sure to click on it to print it out (there are 3 pages, so 15 total animals). Then your little ones can cut each one out on the dotted lines and get to playing. If you forget what memory is, you place all the animals facedown and take turns trying to find the matches. The one with the most, wins! Have fun :)

German Animals Memory Game

What kid doesn’t like to color?! That’s why every week we will be having a new coloring sheet for your children to use their creativity and express themselves. This week’s is a boy in the traditional ‘Lederhosen’ from Bavaria. Feel free to share the final product with us on our Facebook page!
